Bring Your Vision to Life at Ecoasis

IYA Roxanne and Sandro Alawode

At Ecoasis, we are passionate about collaborating and co-creating events that celebrate the arts, culture, natural medicine, and ecological living.

Founders Iya and Sandro have devoted more than 25 years to deep self-inquiry and spiritual exploration, immersing themselves in the vast and varied worlds of sacred healing traditions and higher consciousness.

“We came to realise that no one can truly heal you. At best, they can remind you of your greatness — the part of you that is already whole.”

Our intention is to provide inspiring spaces and eco-accommodation where people can gather to rest, recalibrate, and create magic together

Ecoasis — sits on Bundjalung Country, in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia — A Place of Healing and Connection

A sacred and powerful land in direct alignment to the northeast with Wollumbin (known to many as Mount Warning) — a mountain of deep spiritual significance. It is the first land in Australia to be kissed by the morning sun, a place that holds the Dreaming of the Dawning of a New Age.

The spirit of Mami Wata, from our own spiritual tradition, speaks of a pantheon of pre-creation water spirits — a lineage of life, renewal, and awakening. Their presence is deeply felt here.

We invite all who visit Ecoasis to reconnect with what truly matters —

to nature, to loved ones, and to the quiet wisdom within.

In Service to the Dreaming

Spiritual service is at the heart of all we do.
We came to Ecoasis to live our mission — to support leaders of change and those doing good work in the world. We are waking up and remembering that heaven is here on earth. Our purpose is to breathe life into our dreams.

“Ecoasis Mami Wata, In service to the Dreaming — remembering heaven on earth, and living the life our souls came here to create.”

About the Area:

Wollumbin

WOLLUMBIN, THE WARRIOR CHIEF & THE TURKEY

Wollumbin stands as a majestic mountain in a bowl–shaped valley surrounded by a ring of mountain ranges, the Mt Warning Caldera, standing at 1157 metres high today. Twenty million years ago, it was the main plug or outlet of the massive volcano from which poured lava, forming the mountains and reefs in the northeast corner of New South Wales.

Wollumbin has more than one legend attached to it. Some are linked to the origin of the name, Wollumbin. Some people also say Wollumbin means cloud catcher or weather-maker; others say it means Warrior Chief or Turkey.

Wollumbin – The Warrior Chief: The word, Wollumbin, is also said to mean warrior or fighting chief of the mountain. Legend has it that the spirits of the mountains were warriors. The wounds they received in battles are the scars on the mountainside, and the thunder and lightning are the results of their battles. If you look today towards Wollumbin from certain angles, you will see the face of the warrior chief in the mountain outline. Wollumbin is a very sacred initiation site for men. In traditional Aboriginal life, only the fully initiated men could go to the top of the mountain. This importance and the legends that remain today demonstrate the significance of this sacred and imposing mountain on the people of the valley.

Wollumbin – The Turkey: Once, a long time ago, turkeys could fly greater distances than they can today. Well, one turkey flew from Mt Brown. He had joined a gathering of other birds talking when a giant bird approached. All the birds, the turkey too, were so frightened they flew away quickly. The turkey flew all the way to Wollumbin, stopping on the top of the great mountain to catch his breath, but as he rested, he was wounded in the head by a spear from a warrior. Because of his head wound, the turkey's flying ability was impaired. That is the reason why turkeys today can fly only short distances before they must rest; and if you look at Wollumbin you can see the mountain top has a small bend in it where the spear hit the turkey. The mountain tip is the point of the warriors spear.

About the People:

Bunjalung Nation

The Bunjalung People

Their religion provided an explanation for the world as experienced by the Bundjalung people and it gave them the laws that they followed daily. The foundation of their beliefs was the Dreamtime or [The] Dreaming.

They learned from their fathers over the centuries that the land was created through the movement and creation of spiritual beings and the creatures of nature.

There is a dreamtime story of Wollumbin,
said to be Warrior Chief of the mountain.

The spirits of the mountains were warriors. The wounds they received in battles can be seen as scars on the side of the mountain and the thunder and lightning are the effects of their battles. When you look toward Wollumbin from the north, you can see the face of the Warrior Chief in the mountain's outline.

Another sacred site with special significance for the Minjungbal people is located at South Tweed Heads. There is the sacred Bora Ground, and surrounding bushland that links them spiritually to their ancestors. It was last used traditionally in 1910.
